Our Veterinarians

Dr. Jeff Bowen
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. David DuLaney
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. David DuLaney spent a great deal of time with orthopedic doctors as a child, having broken his leg on two separate occasions—it didn’t take him long to become fascinated by the world of orthopedic care. Years later, when the family pet needed emergency surgery, Dr. DuLaney had a thought: why not use his passion for medicine to better the lives of animals? He hasn’t looked back since!

Dr. DuLaney is from Chesapeake, Virginia, and moved to South Carolina after graduation to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Lander University. Next, he completed a Master’s program in veterinary anatomy prior to gaining acceptance to veterinary school at the University of Georgia. After earning his Doctorate, Dr. DuLaney headed to New York City for an internship at the prestigious Animal Medical Center, then launched his career in private practice.

Dr. DuLaney joined The Ark Animal Hospital team in 2012 and serves the area’s pets and animal parents as an Associate Veterinarian. He loves the process of diagnosing an issue and following it through to an appropriate treatment, and one of his favorite things about the veterinary field is the constant learning opportunity it provides. For Dr. DuLaney, no two days are ever the same!

Dr. DuLaney and his wife, Meredith—who he met in veterinary school and married in a beautiful Central Park ceremony during his time living in New York City—have a young son, Aldin. The family shares their home with an elderly goldfish, two cats, and a rambunctious Labrador mix named Junior. When he isn’t spending time with his family or tending to pets’ needs here at the hospital, Dr. DuLaney enjoys leatherworking, gardening, and woodworking; he’s even built a playground for his son and an entire bedroom suite for his wife!
Dr. Meredith Wesley
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Meredith Wesley can’t remember a time when she didn’t adore the company of pets. She’s always wanted to do her part to keep animals happy and healthy; what better way to do that than by working hands-on with pets as a veterinarian? Dr. Wesley is proud to serve as an Associate Veterinarian with The Ark Animal Hospital family.

Dr. Wesley graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University before gaining acceptance into the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2006 as a licensed veterinarian, and has been using her skillset to better the lives of pets and their loving owners ever since.

Dr. Wesley has special medical interests in dermatology, soft-tissue surgery, and geriatric care, but her favorite part of her job is her clientele. Her clients are at the very core of her devotion to the practice of veterinary medicine—forging relationships with pet owners and their companions is what it’s all about for Dr. Wesley!

Away from the office, Dr. Wesley enjoys gardening, completing do-it-yourself projects around the house, and going on Disney vacations. She and her husband live in East Cobb with their wonderful son, three dogs, a pair of cats, a bird, and several goldfish.
Dr. Danielle Tillis
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Tillis’s entire family works in the human medical field—her mother is a physical therapist and most of her cousins and aunts serve as nurses. She realized early on that she wasn’t fond of the doctor’s office, but she couldn’t shake her passion for medicine and hands-on care. Why not put her lifelong love of animals to good use, thought Dr. Tillis, by serving as a veterinarian? She hasn’t looked back since!

Dr. Tillis was born in Newnan, Georgia but moved to Powder Springs with her family at a young age. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Georgia, then headed to the Caribbean to study veterinary medicine at Ross University in St. Kitts. After a few semesters there, she decided to transfer back to the University of Georgia, where she completed her animal-care degree at the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Having worked here at the clinic as a Veterinary Assistant in her summers during veterinary school, Dr. Tillis was happy to accept a full-time positon as a veterinarian in the summer of 2016.

Dr. Tillis’s interests outside of animal care include hiking, scuba diving, crocheting, and serving as an Assistant Coach of the girls’ soccer team at a local high school. She and her husband, Jimmy, live with three dogs—Paul, a Golden Retriever/Labrador mix; a mischievous Havanese named Snickers; and Odin the goofy Great Dane—and are thrilled to have welcomed their first baby, Claire, into the world in January, 2018!
