Take Your Pet To Work Week starts June 22nd this year. One thing that has changed drastically in recent months is the fact that more people than ever are working from home. Are you taking your work to your pet? A local Dallas, GA vet offers a few tips on doing that below.
Cats
Cats like high spots, and they like to watch their humans closely. Make Fluffy a comfy spot on or near your station. (Tip: try setting out an empty box.) You will need to be careful of kitty shenanigans, however. Your pet could knock things off your desk, and/or knock your water onto your keyboard!
Dogs
Working with Man’s Best Friend is great, but it offers a different set of challenges from working with kitties. We recommend walking and playing with Fido before starting work. The point is to tire your canine pal out a bit, so that he naps through at least part of your work day. One benefit of working with dogs? Your pooch will regularly nudge you to request a walk. This is a great way to stay active and get outside for some fresh air and sunlight!
Rabbits
Bunnies can be just as mischievous as cats, but in a different way. Floppy probably won’t smack a pen off your desk, but she may chew your computer cord or eat the report you just printed. Keep your work station bunnyproofed, and make sure your furry pal has lots of toys to occupy herself with.
Smaller Pets
If you have a bird, reptile, or another small animal, you may be able to just move your pet’s cage or habitat to your desk. Of course, this depends on the size of your desk, as well as the size of said cage. Watching your pint-sized pal can be a fun stress reliever. That’s something we can all use right now!
Benefits
There are some wonderful benefits to working with pets. This has been a very challenging year, to say the least. Take time to hug your cat, toss a ball for your dog, or give your bunny a toy when you need to. Our animal friends are a wonderful source of comfort in hard times.
