With Thanksgiving coming up, many people are making plans, writing down shopping lists, and getting started with some cooking and cleaning. While food is definitely a big part of the fall holiday, it’s also important to remember the reason behind it: gratitude. We are definitely grateful for our furry friends! But what about Fluffy? If she could list the things she is most appreciative of, what do you think would be on it? A Dallas, GA vet takes a few ‘petucated’ guesses below.

Beds

Cats are definitely very opportunistic sleepers. Fluffy will sleep pretty much anywhere, even in a plant pot. That said, kitties do enjoy having some comfy beds to snuggle up in.

Sunbeams

Our feline buddies are not technically cold-blooded, and they don’t run on solar power. However, they don’t seem to have realized that. Fluffy can’t resist dozing off in sunny spots!

Toys

Kitties need entertainment and enrichment, just as people do. Fluffy does appreciate and benefit from having fun playthings to pounce on … and bat under the couch.

Conversation

Fluffy may not know (or care) what you’re saying when you talk to her. However, she does appreciate the effort you’re making to communicating with her.

Boxes

Fluffy definitely loves being pampered, but fortunately for us, she doesn’t really have expensive taste. As far as your furry buddy is concerned, a cardboard box is one of the best things in life!

Catnip

Our feline pals have a very curious—and adorable—relationship with this unique plant. (Fun fact: catnip is a member of the mint family.)

Scratching Posts

Have you ever noticed that cats often look quite happy when they are doing their nails? Fluffy is instinctively driven to care for her tiny paw daggers, so she definitely appreciates having a good manicure station.

Windows

We always advise keeping kitties indoors: they’re much safer inside! However, Fluffy can get quite bored with nothing to do but stare at the walls. A good window seat with an interesting view will not go unappreciated.

Affection

Fluffy can be aloof at times, but they are always happiest when they feel loved and safe. Some of our feline friends are quite the little cuddlebugs. Pay lots of attention to your kitty, and keep that motor going.
